On Monday, May 15 at 11 am, the installation of The Pietrarubbia Group will be inaugurated at Piazza dell'Ateneo Nuovo 1 (Milan).
The ideal for me is to set my sculptures among people, houses, greenery, everyday ways. The work becomes a living creature, changing in the direction of light and shadow, but also in meeting with people, creating an unusual dialogue that links work and user. The work thus becomes a patrimony of all and acquires a testimonial value of its own time. It is able to set a context and enrich it with further layers of memory. (Arnaldo Pomodoro)
Arnaldo Pomodoro brings to Bicocca the monumental The Pietrarubbia Group, an environmental work consisting of six elements, the result of a long research (started in 1975 and completed in 2015) thought by the sculptor as an ideal tribute to the ancient village of Pietrarubbia in Montefeltro, his land of origin.
After the exhibition in Milan at Piazzetta Reale on the occasion of the great exhibition celebrating the 90 years of the Master, the sculptural complex is shown again in its entirety in Bicocca, in the center of the Piazza dell'Ateneo Nuovo, realized by architect Vittorio Gregotti. The installation was made possible thanks to a free use agreement between the Foundation and the University of Milano-Bicocca.
The inauguration, to be held on Monday 15 May at 11 am in Piazza dell'Ateneo Nuovo 1, will be attended by: Cristina Messa, Rector of the Milan-Bicocca University, Filippo Del Corno, Culture councillor of the City of Milan, Marco Martini, Coordinator of the Culture Heritage Network of the Milan-Bicocca University, Livia Pomodoro, President of the Milan Fine Arts Academy, Antonio Calabrò, Director of the Fondazione Pirelli, Vittorio Gregotti and Arnaldo Pomodoro.
