ARNALDO POMODORO AT PALAZZO REALE
Sculpture and its secrets
But how did he make it? Looking at a sculpture isn’t just noting and perceiving it esthetically but also trying to discover the materials used and the procedures and techniques that led to its making.

This tour offers the visitor the possibility to get in touch with the secrets of works of art, getting to know them closely, discovering the steps that led to its execution.
The visit aims to involve the visitor in understanding the creative process through an open discussion with the class, where critical skills and abilities help to unravel the artist’s choices.

Me, Arnaldo Pomodoro
The life and work of an artist are one, they are the same thing. The flash of inspiration from reading, the thoughts of great philosophers, the history of civilization, art...You can seize the role models that inspired the artist by looking at the works on display, from Kierkegaard to Kafka, from Klee to Brancusi to Fontana and Paolo Uccello, but also from the personal events that are woven in current events such as the famous flight taken by Gagarin or the death of JF Kennedy; the transition from small sculpture-like jewelry to bas-reliefs, to the round works up to large scale sculptures.
Short quotations by the artist and recounts of personal stories will help us to “get into the artist’s head” in order to understand the state of mind that led to the realization of this important artistic journey that begun over sixty years ago.

ARNALDO POMODORO IN THE FOUNDATION
Guided tours at the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro venue are comprehensive of a workshop that will be held in Arnaldo Pomodoro’s Studio.

One sign a million possibilities
- in collaboration with EasyReading Multimedia
A workshop that ties in with the words inspired by the works of the Master.

By observing Pomodoro’s work, everyone imagines, dreams, gets to know...Each participant will think of a word and shall compose it in letters that are also signs and therefore subject to multiple transformations just like some examples of Futuristic poems.

Plaster Casting
Almost all of the Master’s sculptures are born from a negative clay mold and the sign resulting from it is the imprint left by the artist. The work then takes shape thanks to a "plaster casting". After observing the work done by the Master, we will experience the technique that makes its realization possible.

ARNALDO POMODORO's "ENTERING THE LABYRINTH"

The environment – ca. 170 sqm – was begun in 1995 for an exhibition in the Marconi Gallery in Milan and later found its permanent location in the underground spaces of the ex Riva Calzoni building at 35 via Solari, previously the Foundation’s Museum venue and now Fendi’s Milanese headquarters. Opened at the end of 2011, Entering the Labyrinth not only marks one of the most important stages of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s artistic career, but is also one of Milan’s most secret and fascinating places.

Space and Time
The labyrinth is the symbol connected to the idea of the “lost and found”... It’s entrance is permitted to small groups so they can explore and find the signs left by the artist during time...signs that evoke, re-propose and reveal the space in which they reside. While waiting for the group to emerge from the labyrinth the rest of the class will work on a map.
