The exhibition presented a survey of the works by those artists who made a major contribution to the renewal of the vocabulary of twentieth-century Italian sculpture, from Medardo Rosso to the present.

Tendente alla monumentalità come sua esigenza interiore, la scultura di Cuschera si dà sempre come elaborazione di forme plastiche compatte e solide ma pensate come in formazione, aperte, e legate all’organico. Ci sono nella sua opera richiami alla scultura arcaica, anche se mancano allusività figurali e il richiamo si esplica nella compattezza dei volumi e nella sinteticità della loro costruzione. Non mancano – com’è il caso esplicito di quest’opera – rimandi al maestro spagnolo Eduardo Chillida, per i piani ricurvi, saldati, nel caso delle sculture in ferro, in modo libero, allacciandoli l’uno all’altro per un lato e lasciando liberi gli altri profili.
