La Magia del Labirinto

Let's go hunting for signs in Arnaldo Pomodoro's Labyrinth!

Equipped with a map and a flashlight, we go in search of the signs that characterize the art of Arnaldo Pomodoro. We cross mysterious rooms, each with its own story: we will get lost and then find ourselves immersed in its imagery of forms and writings to decipher.

The environmental work “Ingresso nel Labirinto” is an environment of 170 square meters, begun in 1995, inaugurated in 2011, today still in work in progress … Arnaldo Pomodoro's Labyrinth has found its definitive location in the underground spaces of the former Riva-Calzoni building in via Solari 35, once the Museum of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, now home to the Fendi Show-room.

NOTE: The environments of the Labyrinth are not accessible to people with mobility disabilities. Steps with handrails are provided in the route; the space does not have internal elevators.

Make a plaster cast in Arnaldo Pomodoro's studio!

We enter Arnaldo Pomodoro's studio to experiment with the artist's distinctive 'negative' technique used to create his sculptures. We prepare a clay slab where we imprint abstract marks with various tools and instruments to bring a complex composition to life. We mix water and plaster, then pour the mixture into our clay mold. While waiting for the plaster to dry, we explore the characteristics of the materials used. Finally, we remove our plaster bas-relief from the mold.

Il Foglio Come Scultura

Make a small run of signed and numbered dry prints!

We explore the technique of relief printing. We prepare a matrix by creating a composition of geometric shapes, inspired by a close look at the artworks present in the studio. The work is carried out using the dry embossing technique, without the use of inks, in order to impress raised forms into the paper. We dampen the printing paper, prepare a matrix, and create an intricate and complex composition. We then set up the registration and finally use the printing press to produce a small edition of our fine art print.

Let’s create a wearable sculpture!

Starting from the artworks in Arnaldo Pomodoro’s Studio, we design masks and headdresses, imagining real or fantastical characters to bring to life!

Pop Up

Costruiamo un biglietto pop up!

Inspired by the works present in Arnaldo Pomodoro's Studio, we create a pop-up card using the oriental technique of carving and folding Kirigami paper to obtain three-dimensional shapes and give life to "animated" subjects.
