Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro an unmissable musical event took place: the live performance Il pensiero è come l’oceano by Lucio Dalla, accompanied by the Nu-Ork Quintet, Beppe D’Onghia (piano and direction), and Marco Alemanno (narrator).
For this show, the Bolognese singer-songwriter presented an eclectic program, ranging from classical music – Divertimento No. 1 in D Major by W.A. Mozart, Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3 No. 6 by A. Vivaldi – to the recitation of “musicalized” poetic texts written by Alda Merini and Dalla himself, as well as, of course, performances of his greatest hits, from Anna e Marco to Piazza Grande, from Futura to La sera dei miracoli, Caruso, and others.
The musical event revisited themes cherished by the singer-songwriter’s fans during his tours, following five years of continuous commitments including theatrical directing, performances with major orchestras (such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), and special concerts in large venues. The program was enriched by chamber arrangements and moments of true “musicalized” acting, with pieces performed by actor Marco Alemanno, who played Arlecchino in Dalla’s production at the Wexford Festival in Ireland (2006) and starred in “The Beggar’s Opera,” also directed by Dalla, in Bologna, Modena, and Reggio Emilia (2008).
Dalla’s live performance further enriches the Foundation’s programming, which in 2007 launched a public program called “Thursdays at the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro”, a series of events featuring music, theater, and culture. In its second year, the “Thursdays” have hosted figures of the caliber of Dario Vergassola, Maurizio Cucchi, Elisabetta Sgarbi with Giovanni Reale and Aldo Nove, Eugenio Finardi, Paola Turci, Andrea Cortellessa, Arturo Carlo Quintavalle, Gae Aulenti and Mimmo Paladino, Maurizio Porro, Francesco Leonetti, Fabio Vacchi, as well as the staging of the play England by Tim Crouch.
