Book launch

L’ingresso nel labirinto di Arnaldo Pomodoro

with texts by Aurora Donzelli, Gino Fienga, and Federico Giani
October 18, 2016
FENDI, Via Solari 35, Milano

Tuesday, October 18, at 6:30 PM at FENDI’s Milan headquarters in Via Solari 35 (formerly Riva-Calzoni and previously the Foundation’s exhibition venue), the Foundation presents the book The Entrance to the Labyrinth of Arnaldo Pomodoro, co-published by confine edizioni and the Foundation, with texts by Aurora Donzelli, Gino Fienga, and Federico Giani. The authors will speak at the event, and the artist will be present.

The book was conceived with the idea of documenting, for the first time in a comprehensive way, the monumental environmental artwork Ingresso nel labirinto (1995–2011): not a monograph in the traditional sense, but rather a “fresh” and accessible volume, where images and words blend into an original, engaging, and non-academic narrative.

The preface by Aurora Donzelli (Associate Professor of Linguistic Anthropology at Sarah Lawrence College in New York) introduces the theme of the labyrinth from a historical-anthropological perspective; Gino Fienga (publisher and curator), inspired by the suggestions of the work, has composed a truly visionary narrative dedicated to Pomodoro’s Labyrinth; and finally, Federico Giani (curator at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation) takes on the task of recounting the history of the work over sixteen years, from its conception in 1995 to its completion in 2011.

At the end of the presentation, the audience will be invited to take part in an exclusive visit to the artwork Ingresso nel labirinto.
