Arc#ive 6

Arnaldo Pomodoro

curated by Lorenzo Respi
February 25 - May 14 2017
Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Viale Lisa Ancona 6, Lissone (MB)

From February 25 to May 14, 2017, the MAC of Lissone hosts the sixth edition of ARC#IVE — a series of artist archive-focused events organized by All Around Art — dedicated to the Arnaldo Pomodoro Archive.

The Arnaldo Pomodoro Archive, which is currently managed by the Foundation, was established in the 1950s when the artist himself began collecting press clippings and documenting his work. Since the 1990s, the archive has been undergoing digitization and today actively engages in research, preservation, and enhancement of its rich heritage.

The photos, letters, and archival clippings exhibited at the MAC of Lissone, curated by Lorenzo Respi, tell the story of the sculptor’s “American period,” during which Pomodoro was invited to teach first at Stanford University and then at Berkeley, offering a fresh perspective on American society in the 1960s and ’70s, amid the Beat Generation, social movements, and politically engaged cinema.
