Thursday, February 4, 2010, the Fattoria Vittadini Company presents at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation the performance Pour Un Herbier. The Garden of Artifice: Paths and Escapes.

Pour Un Herbier is a site-specific performance, a creation combining music, contemporary dance, and video art, conceived and adapted by the Fattoria Vittadini Company for the spaces of the Foundation and the works of Cristina Iglesias exhibited during her solo exhibition. It is a roaming performance exploring the enigmatic meanings of forms, letters woven together, bodies slowly emerging from invisible abysses, acts of escape, and words to be understood as sounds.

“In an artificial garden – explains director Mauro Bonazzoli – I wanted to recreate the emotions that a real garden gives us. A garden where the names of flowers blend into harmony; the ritual of the seasons in the geometry of pergolas; the force of nature that overcomes human will, and from this, the desire to flee… A garden where one can rediscover a hidden passion, a sacred shadow, and the sound of water. It is water that flows without pause, that escapes and bends whatever it meets, like seaweed on the seabed. But nothing is exactly as it appears.” Manuela Tagliavia interprets her choreographic journey “as a voyage through bodies that attract and repel, women who evoke a memory, men crushed by the walls of a path, a couple listening to each other in the labyrinth, another discovering the primordial garden of Eden, where water flows marking a time that is an eternal return. One motif leads to the next, like a metamorphosis… the path, the tunnel; the grate, the cell; the labyrinth, the timeless garden.”

The creation and direction of the performance are by Mauro Bonazzoli, choreography by Emanuela Tagliavia, video art installations by Davide Montagna, and costumes by Lou Antinori. The technical sponsor of the evening is SGlighting.

The performance by Compagnia Fattoria Vittadini is part of the “Thursdays at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation”, the event series that, for the fourth consecutive year, has animated the Foundation’s public program, which in 2010 featured guests including Claudia Gian Ferrari, Amalia Del Ponte, Marta Sui Tubi, and Peter Beagle.
