Paul Maheke – The Purple Chamber

Second appointment for 2023 with the Project Rooms, the observatory dedicated to developments in the international art scene, entrusted this year to Chiara Nuzzi (Naples, 1986), researcher and curator, publishing manager and curator of Fondazione ICA Milano since 2018.

Every Saturday and Sunday, from 28 October to 17 December 2023 (h. 11am–7p, free entrance)

The project developed by Chiara Nuzzi for the 2023 Project Rooms is entitled Corpo Celeste, in tribute to the eponymous collection of essays by Italian author Anna Maria Ortese, and is articulated through two solo exhibitions featuring Lito Kattou (Cyprus, 1990), from April to June, and Paul Maheke (France, 1985), from September to December.

The project reflects on the possibility of rethinking and re-imagining reality and the body that inhabits it through the practices and poetics of the artists involved and reconnects to the theme of “negation” – derived from some of the themes addressed in the exhibition Open Studio #2 | La negazione della forma. Arnaldo Pomodoro tra minimalismo e controcultura.

In the context of the exhibition projects set up in Via Vigevano 9, Kattou and Maheke will produce two different interventions in the spaces of Fondazione ICA Milano, comprising references to their respective exhibitions that confirm the dialogue and collaboration between the two Foundations.
