As part of the solo exhibition of the Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias, on Thursday, December 3, 2009, Love Machines will be performed at the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, a show by Kataklò, an acrobatic dance company founded and directed by Giulia Staccioli.

Love Machines, the latest production by Kataklò (premiered on August 31, 2009 at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh), uses the exhibition halls of the Foundation to create a unique staging of the choreographic performance. Within the space defined by the sculptures on display, the show traces an exciting poetic action, where human matter and scenic structures interact in possible/impossible ways, giving life to a form of visual theatre that explores the twilight zone between art and artifice, between the reality of life and fantasy.

To develop the choreography of Love Machines, Staccioli, with the collaboration of Jessica Gandini, drew inspiration from Leonardo Da Vinci's studies on the human body and machines. The musical suggestions – an original Elektro-Ambient soundscape blending digital, ethnic, classical, and ancient instruments – were created by Sabba D.J., while the costumes were designed by Sara Costantini and the lighting by Andrea Mostachetti.

The Kataklò performance is part of the “Thursdays at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation”, the public program that, for the third consecutive year, brings figures from the world of entertainment, music, and culture to the Foundation. Guests at the Foundation during 2009 included, among others: Ornella Vanoni, Fabio Vacchi and Aldo Nove, Lella Costa, Carlo Orsi, Massimo Recalcati, Franco Cerri, Morgan Packard and Ezechiel Honig, Ennio Morricone, Nicola Piovani.
