“Colophon”, n. 57 (maggio 2022)
Special issue dedicated to Arnaldo Pomodoro, on the project and creative direction of the artist, in collaboration with the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro.
Saturday, May 14th at 17:00, at the Colophonarte stand at Artefiera Bologna (Hall 18, Stand A22), there will be a conversation with Ugo Volli to present issue 57 of Colophon, a quarterly magazine dedicated to artist’s books and fine books in general. A special, monographic issue dedicated to Arnaldo Pomodoro and his work in the world of theater, created on the project and creative direction of the artist, in collaboration with the Foundation.
The issue contains an introduction by Arnaldo Pomodoro, unpublished critical texts by Ugo Volli and Antonio Calbi, and a select iconographic apparatus curated by the Foundation, which retraces the key stages of Pomodoro's theatrical experience. Volli, a theater critic first and later a semiotician, emphasizes Pomodoro's dialectical ability to create an ideal connection/intersection between sculpture and stage design. Calbi, curator of the volume Il teatro scolpito published in 2012, continues his critical analysis in a more intimate and personal way. The issue closes with a letter sent to Arnaldo in 2012 by his friend Ermanno Olmi.
On the occasion of the magazine's release, Pomodoro created a graphic work titled Sfera (1964-2022), etching and aquatint on Hahnemühle 300g paper, numbered and signed, printed at Stamperia Giudici in Varese and also available for purchase at the Foundation's Shop.
