Mims CONTEMPORANEO
June 9, 2022
Mims, Piazzale di Porta Pia 1, Roma
On June 9th at 11:00 AM, the inauguration event of Mims CONTEMPORANEO will take place at the headquarters of Mims (Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility) in Piazzale Porta Pia, Rome, in the presence of the Minister, Enrico Giovannini, the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, the Authorities, the artists, and media representatives. This initiative, by Minister Enrico Giovannini, aims to enhance the works of established artists entrusted to the Ministry of Porta Pia on free loan. With this event, Italian contemporary art enters Mims.
The idea of displaying paintings, sculptures, and installations within the headquarters of Mims, including Colonna recisa trasversalmente (1970-1971) by Arnaldo Pomodoro, part of the Collection of the Foundation, originates from the work carried out by the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic with “Quirinale contemporaneo.” The purpose is to showcase to those who frequent the Ministry, and to the public in general, the expression of outstanding Italian creativity during the Republican period, and to enrich the historical collections already present on-site, enhancing their value.
The works of art by recognized artists – such as Chiara Dynys, Giosetta Fioroni, Giovanni Frangi, Emilio Isgrò, Massimo Listri, Giulia Napoleone, Alessandro Papetti, Paola Pezzi, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Pietro Ruffo, Sissi, Guido Strazza, and Grazia Varisco – have been installed at the entrance of the building, in the representative areas, in the Minister's office, in the Cabinet staff offices, in the corridors, and in the guest reception areas, allowing visitors to appreciate their charm during their stay.
