On Sunday, October 11, at 4:30 PM, the monumental sculpture Truncated Cone (1972) by Arnaldo Pomodoro will be presented at the Santa Sofia Open Air Sculpture Park (Forlì-Cesena) on the occasion of the 61st edition of the Premio Campigna. The sculpture has been loaned for 5 years by the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation.
Truncated Cone – the artist explains – is a bronze cone with a base diameter of over 3 meters, sliced and pierced in the center by a triangular blade made of shiny stainless steel that culminates in a sharp point upwards. The contrast between the smooth and shiny volume of the steel and the torn and corroded bronze material creates an effect of movement and mutability, which contrasts with the unified geometry of the composition.
The philosophy of the Sculpture Park project is to integrate the works with the landscape and the history of the territory, creating a direct dialogue between art and the environment. The sculptures – works by renowned artists such as Mauro Staccioli, Giuseppe Maraniello, Flavio Favelli, Roberto Cuoghi, Eliseo Mattiacci, Nicola Carrino, Luigi Mainolfi, Francesco Somaini, and Hidetoshi Nagasawa – are placed along a path that starts from the center of Santa Sofia, beginning at the Giorgi Park (of the Resistance), then descending into the Bidente Riverbed and reaching Capaccio.
Due to bad weather, the event originally scheduled for Sunday, September 27, has been postponed to Sunday, October 11.
