Sei conversazioni d’arte | 2° edizione
Luca Massimo Barbero racconta il “Grande disco” di Arnaldo Pomodoro
September 12, 2016
Sala Alessi, Palazzo Marino, Piazza della Scala 2, Milano
For the second edition of the "Six Art Conversations" series at Palazzo Marino, Luca Massimo Barbero will discuss the Great Disk by Arnaldo Pomodoro.
The series of meetings Six Art Conversations is a journey through six masterpieces of the Milanese artistic heritage, selected by over 6000 people to represent the six months of "ExpoinCittà 2016 – #Milanoaplacetobe" during the 21st Triennale. Among these works, the Great Disk by Arnaldo Pomodoro was also selected.
In his research, Arnaldo Pomodoro recognizes as a priority the relationship with the space in which his sculptures are placed: in this way, the context transforms, takes on new meanings, and becomes enriched with further layers that characterize the environment and, thus, the memory of those who experience these places. This also happened with the Great Disk, the protagonist of the scenario of Piazza Meda, right in the center of Milan, where it is currently located.
Form, matter, light, and space: on the occasion of the meeting in the Sala Alessi of Palazzo Marino, Luca Massimo Barbero guides us in discovering the artwork that has become a symbol of the city.
