One year after the passing of Jannis Kounellis (1936–2017), the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro and the University of Milan are promoting the initiative Jannis Kounellis in Statale.
Starting February 20, the main campus of the University (teaching area at via Festa del Perdono 3) will host the work Untitled (2005) by Jannis Kounellis, on free loan to the University. The work became part of the Collection of the Foundation thanks to Kounellis himself, who donated it to the Foundation at the end of his solo exhibition held in 2006–2007.
The inauguration will take place on Monday, February 19 at 5:30 PM, in the presence of Gianluca Vago, Rector of the University of Milan, Filippo Del Corno, Milan’s Councillor for Culture, and Carlotta Montebello, Secretary General of the Foundation. This will be followed, in the Aula Magna, by the screening of the film One Act by Jannis Kounellis, shot by Ermanno Olmi during the preparation of the 2006–2007 exhibition. The screening will be followed by remarks from Arnaldo Pomodoro and professors Raffaele De Berti and Giorgio Zanchetti.
