Book launch
Il labirinto di Arnaldo Pomodoro
curated by Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro
November 25, 2019
FENDI, Via Solari 35, Milano
Monday, November 25, at 6:30 PM, at FENDI's Milan headquarters, in the underground spaces of the former Riva Calzoni, which house the environmental work Ingresso nel labirinto, the presentation of The Labyrinth of Arnaldo Pomodoro will take place. This is the first children's book created by the Foundation, published by Corraini, with the support of Fondazione Cariplo.
The work Ingresso nel labirinto, located in the underground spaces of Via Solari that today host the FENDI showroom, is a space that evokes past worlds, an exploration of existential metaphors: a magical and mysterious journey into the mind of the Maestro, between reimagined sculptures already known and forms still in the process of development. The editorial project stems from the experiences shared with some classes and from the free interpretations that children made of the Labyrinth, as part of the Explore:art project, realized with the support of Fondazione Cariplo.
The book, curated by the Foundation, with illustrations by Gaia Scarpari and texts by Paola Boccaletti, Federico Giani, and Giuditta Sala, offers activities that trace a sensory path to discover the artwork: a different way of introducing contemporary art to young children through direct experimentation. Between maps to trace, surfaces to capture, materials and sounds to catalog, and alphabets to invent, children engage with the artwork and its meanings, reinterpreting from their own perspective the many cues contained within the piece.
