Enrico Baj. Bambini, ultracorpi & altre storie

Curated by Flaminio Gualdoni
September 25 - December 20, 2013
Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, Via Vigevano 9, Milano

On the tenth anniversary of his passing, the Foundation celebrates Enrico Baj (Milan 1924 – Vergiate 2003) with an exhibition, curated by Flaminio Gualdoni, focusing on the 1950s, a period in which Baj, a fervent protagonist of the postwar European avant-garde, was the epicenter of a whirlwind of initiatives that united some of the crucial moments of international research of that time, revisiting and evolving the historical roots of Dada and Surrealism.

The exhibition, created in close collaboration with Roberta Cerini Baj and the Enrico Baj Archive, presents a group of fundamental works by the Milanese artist from the 1950s and a series of rare documents, posters, magazines, and photographs that capture the atmosphere of cultural exchanges, friendships, and polemics typical of the period when Milan established itself as a highly influential center of the international avant-garde, during one of its most culturally vibrant moments.

The exhibition is accompanied by the second issue of the Quaderni, featuring reproductions of all the works and documents on display, along with critical essays by Flaminio Gualdoni and Angela Sanna.
