Marino Marini. Arcane fantasie

curated by Sergio Risaliti
June 15 - November 3, 2024
Forte di Bard, Via Vittorio Emanuele II, Bard

The Forte di Bard presents, in collaboration with 24 Ore Cultura and Museo Marino Marini di Firenze, the exhibition Marino Marini. Arcane Fantasies, curated by Sergio Risaliti, director of the Museo Novecento in Florence.

The exhibition focuses on the main sources of inspiration for Marino Marini and the recurring themes of his research, presenting 23 sculptures and 39 works on canvas and paper. Over the years, Marini developed a completely personal journey, between the return of the archaic and the supremacy of dream and fantasy, which finds its highest expression in horses and knights, the most famous subjects of his work, transformed into a means to interpret reality and tell the human condition. Figures that, over time, become increasingly less defined and more expressive, eventually taking on the characteristics of sculptural metaphors.

Among the works on display, also the Guerriero (1958-1959), loaned from the Collection of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation.
