The work is part of a group of three columns designed by the artist for the Financial Pacific Plaza of the Pacific in Honolulu. Pomodoro recalls that: "the group of three columns that stands in Honolulu resulted from an invitation extended to me by the architect who designed the bank in front of which they are sited. It consists, starting from the left, of a column with a clearly defined slash that cuts through it on a slant, and which thereby gives the illusion that the upper part could slip and fall, Colonna intera recisa. I think of the second Cilindro as having been 'constructed'. The third is charged with cuts and studs and glyphs, and I decided to called it Mole circolare".
