Salvatore Cuschera

Curated by Flaminio Gualdoni
May 13th – June 13th, 2004
Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, Via Adda 15, Quinto Stampi (Rozzano)

The Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation presents, from May 13 to June 13, 2004, a solo exhibition by Salvatore Cuschera, curated by Flaminio Gualdoni. Through a selection of about 30 works created between 2000 and 2003, the exhibition aims to highlight the central role and uniqueness of the creative thought of the Sicilian sculptor, who, in his mature work, increasingly transforms and clarifies his relationship with iron.

“In the dark and sweltering atmosphere of the workshop – stated Flaminio Gualdoni – Cuschera gives birth to opaque and closed forms, which inside experience the passage of light, the caress of air, the intimacy of surfaces… Cuschera, like an ancient metallurgist, listens to the iron, tests its surfaces and possible patinas, lingers on oxidation and on the pondus, reflects on thicknesses and harshness, on docility and strength. He designs space in a careful tension, in a chillidian shaping according to which geometry can become visionary, but still remains within its own meaningful territories.”

The Cuschera exhibition continues the program of exhibitions and cultural initiatives of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, specifically dedicated to the study and documentation of contemporary sculpture.

On the occasion of the exhibition, a catalog published by the Foundation has been released, with texts by Arnaldo Pomodoro and Flaminio Gualdoni.
